Castration

Puppy castration is a worldwide requirement for breeding the original Australian Labradoodle. You should not buy an unspayed labradoodle anywhere. If you do, it is not an official breeding, but a “domestic cross” or a pedigree.

Because I breed under the Dutch Australian Labradoodle Association Alpha Europe, I have to comply with this condition as well.Neutering is mandated to protect the health and genetic purity of the breed. It is practically the only way to control the quality of the breeding stock, the genetic purity and thus ensure the health of future puppies. All breeding dogs undergo a very strict series of health and genetic tests before they are accepted for breeding. This is the main objective of this measure.

We have 2 options for neutering puppies. Either you will get the puppy already neutered at our expense or you will have it neutered by the age of 18 months at your own expense. Your preferred option will then be covered in the contract.

I know that early neutering is a very debated topic in the Czech Republic, however, abroad it is common practice for almost all puppies born that are not bred. In addition, puppies tolerate the procedure very well and the benefits far outweigh the negatives of the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions:

WHY ARE PUPPIES CASTRATED?

By early neutering, ALFA-Europe and the breeder will prevent the beloved authentic Australian Labradoodle from ending up in puppy mills or with malicious breeders. There they will be abused. Massive breeding (uncontrolled breeding) takes place in such places in order to make as much money as possible. Many breeds are unhealthy because the breeding lines are too closely related (inbreeding), which causes many inherited diseases. This has happened in the past with several popular breeds and is still happening.

IS EARLY CASTRATION AND CASTRATION HARMFUL FOR PUPPY DEVELOPMENT?

There are a lot of bad things said about early neutering. Unfortunately, these claims are not backed up by scientifically valid studies. ALFAEurope has a database of more than a thousand puppies. History shows that puppies simply grow up to be normal adult dogs. In the USA, Canada, Australia and many other countries, veterinarians have performed these early neutering operations with success for decades.
